How to listen to YouTube with a screen off on Xiaomi

YouTube has a lot of entertainment and training content and if something really needs to be viewed, then some of the materials can be simply listening, for example, music or interviews. If you are the owner of the YouTube Premium subscription or continue to use Vanced, even after its official closure, this instruction may seem excessive. But paid subscription costs money (logical, right?), and Vanced is no longer updated and gradually leaves the scene. So if you use a Xiaomi phone, do not deprive our short instructions, especially since it does not have any hard manipulations and you don't need to download a third party app.

For a start, go along the path Settings — Special features — Video tools. Pay attention to the "Tools for Video" and the "Video tool label" switches — they must be active. Now we go to the "Video Drive Management" submenu and find YouTube in the list. If necessary, other video players can be marked too.

Then go to YouTube and launch any video. A small translucent label will be at left. You should to pull it to the center. Find this label - the most difficult stage in our instruction, without jokes. Unfortunately, there is no possibility to change its transparency or size. But there is a "Label location" submenu in the settings, use it to lay the label to the left or right.
In the menu that opens, select the "Play sound when the screen is turned off", marked with an ear icon. After that, the smartphone will be blocked automatically, and the video playback will continue.
Please note: the option is available on phones with MIUI 11 and later.
